One of our first industrial compressors was used to extinguish electrical arcs in electricity substations. That was way back in 1956. Ever since, we have invested the experience and expertise gained over the years to build better compressors for power distribution applications. Today, our compressors are now renowned for their safe and reliable operation under extreme conditions. Besides conventional substation applications, we are also one of the leading suppliers to the renewable energy sector, e.g. with gas-tight compressors for distributing bio-methane to generate electricity. Whatever the compressor, we are proud of the fact that catering for customers’ very specific requests is one of our strengths.

Electrical Substations
As a vital part of a country’s supply network, electricity substations are used to change voltage levels, with the optimum voltage selected in line with the level of power to be transmitted and the distance the electricity must travel. Transformer stations then lower the voltage level to that required by end-users. In substations Sauer compressors are used for extinguishing electrical arcs and actuating open power switches. Our customers include energy supply companies, major industrial companies with their own substations, local substation operators and engineering offices.
What are Sauer Compressors used for?
- Extinguishing electrical arcs
- Actuating open power switches
Who are Sauer Compressors’ customers?
- Energy-supply companies
- Major industrial companies which have their own electrical substations
- Local operators of electrical substations
- Engineering offices
